Amanda Buchanan, MD – bio

 

Amanda Buchanan is an associate professor at the University of Kentucky, and the chief of the Division of Pediatric Urology.  She was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, and completed her undergraduate studies at McGill University in Montreal.  She then moved to New Orleans and completed her medical education at Tulane University.  She finished her urology residency there at the combined Louisiana State University/Ochsner program and moved to Denver for her pediatric urology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Colorado.  She received very specific training involving the treatment of urologic tumors and cancers in children, teens and young adults, which remains her clinical passion and research focus.  She has been at the University of Kentucky since 2018 and was the first to perform robotic surgery on children in the state.  She practices the entire breadth of pediatric urology and has specifically developed the DSD program and pediatric urologic oncology program.  She enjoys Orange Theory fitness and travelling the world with her pilot husband and 3 children.
