  1. Describe the historical contributions of early leaders in pediatric surgery like Raymond Amoury, and explain how these advances established modern standards for surgical care of children.
  2. Identify key contemporary challenges in pediatric surgical care—including disparities in access, geographic variation in resources, and social determinants of health—that influence outcomes for children requiring surgery.
  3. Discuss how pediatric surgeons can incorporate systems-based thinking to improve access, coordination of care, and long-term outcomes for children within their communities.
  4. Evaluate strategies for integrating clinical excellence, leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration to improve both perioperative outcomes and long-term quality of life for pediatric surgical patients.
  5. Recognize opportunities for pediatric surgeons and trainees to engage in advocacy, community partnership, and leadership initiatives that extend the impact of pediatric surgery beyond the operating room.
