Overview

The Precision Pediatrics: Clinical Pharmacology Mini Course is an introductory course covering the basics of clinical pharmacology - including pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacogenetics, and adverse drug reactions. This course is open to anyone interested in learning more about precision therapeutics. As a part of this course, enrollees may choose to have their own pharmacogenetic testing performed (free of charge; limited to the first 20 participants to sign up for testing). This course is offered both in person and virtually via Teams.

For enrollees who would like to have their own pharmacogenetic testing, course registration must be completed by November 6, 2026.

  • Testing requires going to a CM lab to have a cheek swab collected for DNA isolation and testing.

  • Enrollees can have their cheek swabs collected at any outpatient CM lab in the Kansas City area (Adele Hall, Broadway, Northland, East, and Kansas locations) during lab hours between November 9 - December 1, 2026.

  • To obtain a sufficient DNA sample, please do not eat, drink (including water), chew gum, smoke, or brush your teeth for at least 60 minutes prior to having your cheek swab collected.

  • There is no charge for the testing. Samples received after December 1 will not be processed or resulted.

  • If you would like to have pharmacogenetic testing and are registering after November 6th, please e-mail us to check availability of testing and to have a lab order placed for you.

Pharmacogenetic testing is not required for the course. Enrollees who do not wish to have pharmacogenetic testing will receive a sample results report for learning purposes during the course.

Additional Course Information:

  • Light refreshments will be offered in the morning.

  • In the event of inclement weather, the course will be moved to virtual only using Microsoft Teams. If this occurs, enrollees will be notified in advance via e-mail.
