Overview

ECMO staff have ongoing education requirements, including participation in ECMO simulations.

  • ECMO Specialists and Core Team members are required to attend 2 ECMO simulation education activities per calendar year (1 per session).

  • ECMO Providers are required to attend 1 ECMO simulation activity per calendar year.

Each simulation benefits from representation by a range of professions/specialties. We prefer to have Neonatologists, Intensivists (CICU/PICU), and a Fellow or APRN, along with beside core team, ECMO core team, perfusion, and respiratory therapy present for each session. Please be mindful of this when registering, and select the appropriate registration item based on your role.

ECMO Simulation consists of 4 scenarios, with each scenario followed by a multidisciplinary debriefing as a group.  This is a non-threatening environment, meant for learning and growing together as a team.  Communication regarding ECMO simulation should be directed to [email protected].
